We have gained plenty of experience in the art of live musical entertainment, representing artists that have performed at a variety of events since 1999.
We’ve worked hard to improve our services and to expand the range of material and services we offer. We’re able to adapt to each particular event’s requirements and clearly communicate with clients to ensure their full satisfaction.
ABOUT YOUR BOOKING
For acoustic performances, the transition from one location to another (even between rooms) can be relatively swift with limited down time. We suggest that a chair without arms be set up for each musician in position at each location change on the day ahead of time.
We can also change location for amplified performances, though will need assistance relocating the PA and microphone set up and it will be more time consuming.
As most of our performances are for background music, we find that all black formal attire blends in best with majority of events and functions. However, if you have a theme or would like us to dress in something else, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate.
Our quoted fee is all inclusive for the duration of your booking from the set start time. We will arrive 20 minutes prior to the booking to set up all tuned up and be ready to begin playing at the scheduled time. The fee includes travel (as well as accommodation if required for long distance performances) as well as up to three special arrangements of requested music not our play list if required.
We love discussing your plans with you via phone, email and online video conference calls. The fee includes unlimited communication right from your first enquiry through to the end of the performance and we will also liaise with your other service providers to in advance to make sure all goes to plan like you envision at no extra charge.
The only additional costs to you may include a staff meal for each musician for bookings that run through a meal time and are three or more hours long. Or if you require more than three special arrangements of requested music.
We require a short 10 minute break each hour for bookings for 1.5 hours and longer to rest our arms. We are more than happy to best coincide the breaks to fit during a formality or speech to maximise our performance time.
A staff meal for each musician is required for bookings that run through a meal time and are three or more hours long.
The cost of travel is inclusive in the quoted fee. The ensemble booking fees are tiered through the travel time for driving. For bookings within 30 minutes drive from the city (CBD) or town, the base fee is set and you can see the additional charges go up in increments of 30 minute intervals.
If you need to change the start of your booking or extend the duration, please advise us as soon as possible to give us as much advance notice as you can. We schedule our performances to be back to back on any given date and only take on the bookings at times we can manage with travel given the time period. This will depend on our availability to whether we can accommodate your alteration. Of course slight time changes within 15-30 minutes will most likely not be a problem, please check with us and let us know when your time will be 100% confirmed at the time of when you make your booking with us.
We arrive 20 minutes prior to the start of your booking time to set up and tune at no extra cost.
You can enquire about our string quartet and ensembles either via email or phone call or text message. I am more than happy to provide information to you this way or we can schedule you in for a video meeting where we can go through all your ideas.
Once I have a good understanding of what you are looking for and what best to suits the ambiance and venue of your event, I will provide a few options for you to choose from. When you have made your selection, all we require to secure your booking is a non refundable (yet transferable by date) deposit of $220 which you can pay by direct bank deposit or credit card.
I will then guide you to what is needed from you request wise and set up requirements which you can think about and advise closer to your date. During this time, I will make contact with your other suppliers to confirm details and our requirements on your behalf.
In the lead up to 14 days prior to your booking date, we will be in contact to confirm your details and requirements. Your balance will be due now if not already paid in full. In this lead up period, I will again make contact with your suppliers to confirm if there have been any changes and set the timeline.
On the day, we will arrive 20 minutes prior to our scheduled booking start time ready to play for you.
Of course the more notice, the more likely our availability. We take bookings 3+ years in advance for clients who want to secure us during peak periods. The most typical time frame of booking is 12-18 months in advance, though we can certainly take bookings up to 24 hours prior given we are available. We highly recommend you make contact with us by phone call or text message for bookings within a short time period at the last minute.
We always highly recommend booking a little longer than you expect as from our experience, we often find formalities tend to run late on the day. Of course we can stay over time, though this is subject to availability on the day and charged at $50 per musician in 10 minute increments. If you think you may go overtime, please allow for the extra time when making your booking.
We are cover for public liability insurance up to $30 miilion through Allianz Australia Insurance.
We work with a team of incredible musicians and if a musician is sick on the day, we will substitute another one of our talented musicians to fill in for them.
There is no need for us to attend your wedding rehearsal for timings of our pieces. On the day we will watch the proceedings and keep playing music continuously in a loop and finish off nicely wherever we are when needed. This is perfect especially for the processional and during the signing of the register when timing is not locked in and we tailor it to your requirements on the day.
ABOUT THE ENSEMBLE
Created in the 18th century, a string quartet consists of four string instruments forming two violins, viola (a slightly larger and deeper violin) and cello. Each instrument plays a different and vital role as part of the ensemble to provide a rich balanced sound.
The first violin plays the melody part, much like the role of a vocalist in a band and is supported by the second violin, viola and cello to provide a harmony parts. As the most recognizable part, the first violin can play their part as a solo version too unaccompanied.
The next most important part is the cello which provides the bass part like a bass guitar and supports the first violin with the melody by which the harmony is based upon. It gives the melody grounding and the first violin and cello playing together can also work well as a duo.
By adding the second violin, the richness in harmony grows in texture also allowing for the first violin to be supported with a secondary melody like part. The second violin part functions like a lead guitar in a band. The first and second violin along with the cello can perform as a trio providing a more full sound than the duo with the addition of the extra violin.
Finally once the viola is added, the quartet sounds the most complete with beauty in richness of sound. The viola completes the balance with the additional driving harmony part and works much like the rhythm guitar part in a band. The full quartet is not only rich with harmony, it also provides a much louder sound than the solo, duo or trio, especially when performing acoustically as the more musicians you have, the larger in volume it will sound.
All Sweethearts Music ensembles perform acoustically, so the more musicians you have, the bigger the sound is going to be. Quartets and trios are highly recommended for outdoor and large gatherings, while duos and soloists are recommended for indoor and more intimate settings. Often a trio or duo is all you need for Church ceremonies where the acoustics are brilliant.

As our instruments are designed to be performed acoustically, the sound carries nicely in the background for most venues and locations. The more instruments you have playing, the louder the volume will be.
However, for feature performances at larger venues or for background music in noisy venues where guests are encouraged to socialize, you may consider arranging amplification for our musicians. All we require is a PA set up and a microphone on a stand, positioned towards each instrument. Sound checks can be arranged at the time of booking if needed.
Our most popular ensemble is the traditional string quartet given the rich sound quality of the ensemble, though you may want to consider other ensemble options for your event event requirements volume wise and budget allowance. The more musicians you book, the bigger the sound will be, though the more it will cost and the more space you will need to accommodate them.
We also manage other instrumentalists to perform with our string ensembles and often are asked to include a harp and/or flute. Popular combinations requested by clients:
A solo instrumentalist is perfect for small and intimate functions. Either a solo harpist or solo flute player makes for a lovely angelic sound, or you may prefer a solo violinist or solo cellist for something more traditional sounding. The solo instrumentalist performs the melody part from any piece of music from classical through to pop music.
For venues with a piano, we can arrange for a solo pianist to perform a wide range of music styles, It may be possible with enough advance notice for us to arrange a digital piano if there is not a piano at your location. We recommend you contact us for a personalized quote for this option.
Our violin and cello duo make for a beautiful sound with the cello enhancing the ensemble with a bass line, like a bass guitar would support a vocalist. Other duo combinations include a flute and cello or violin and harp. Even a flute and harp makes for an appealing and unique sounding ensemble.
With the addition of a second violin, our string trio is our next most popular ensemble with a richer and more complex sound than the duo because of the extra harmony part. Combining two violins and cello makes for a traditional sounding ensemble similar to our string quartet though not as strong in volume. Another popular ensemble option is to have a flute perform the first violin melody with the second violin and cello to give more of an orchestral sound. We can also perform as a violin, cello and harp combination as well.

ABOUT THE MUSIC
We can certainly play requests that are not on our playlist. Each booking includes three complimentary arrangements of music not already on our playlist if required, as long as we are given up to 14 days advance notice. Additional special arrangements of music not in our current repertoire are possible and with at least 14 days notice are charged at a fee of $110.
We will do our best to complete special arrangements with less than 14 days notice, though unfortunately can not guarantee there will be enough time to include it.
Of course we love our clients making requests on and off our playlist. We especially encourage you to choose special music for feature segments such as the processional, signing the register and recessional for wedding ceremonies or the bridal party entrance through to the bridal waltz and finale at the wedding reception.
In addition to openings and finales at both weddings, functions and events, we also can play a featured piece for a reflection moment or background segment to enhance a presentation or anywhere else you might like to suggest.
Please note that we are always more than happy to choose music on your behalf which would be more suitable for the moment if you would prefer.
In addition to featured musical segments where you may want to request a special piece of music to be played, we also can play a general selection of music from our repertoire to be performed in the background. This will include upbeat classical, jazz and pop music to compliment your requests or you may want to select a preference in the style of music you would like played.
One processional piece for the bridemaids (and flowergirls/page boys) and bride works very well and we highly recommend for small bridal parties and venues with a small aisle.
If you have a larger bridal party of three or more bridesmaids, there is an option to choose two pieces for the processional. The first piece for the bridesmaids and flowergirls/page boys and a second piece for the bride. There will just be a short pause in between the change over of music.
There are three main points you may like to feature special music during your wedding ceremony. The processional (bridal entrance), the signing of the register and the recessional (finale) are moments where you can personalize your music and choose something special to enhance your special day.
The structure of a wedding ceremony and when we plat music, generally looks like:
15 minutes prior to ceremony start time: (eg 2:45pm for a 3pm ceremony)
We perform a selection of general background music from our repertoire to set the atmosphere as guests await the arrival of the bride.
At the ceremony start time: (eg at 3pm)
We perform the processional piece as you and your bridemaids (and flowergirl/page boys) make your entrance.
Ceremony (eg 3:05-3:20pm) no music is generally performed during the vows or formalities
Signing the register (eg 3:20-3:30pm)
We can perform up to two special pieces whilst you sign the register and have photos taken.
Recessional (eg 3:30pm)
We perform a bright finale piece to finish the ceremony
Post ceremony (3:35-3:45pm)
We perform a selection of general background music from our repertoire.
Of course we can be booked to stay and perform for longer once the ceremony concludes whilst you mingle with your guests performing general background music.
For church services, we can also feature music during the offertory, communion and lighting of candles if required. We are also more than happy to perform hymns for the congregation to sing along to.
As our instruments are designed to be performed acoustically, we do not need access to power to perform without amplification. This is ideal for outdoor functions where power may not be easily accessible.
We do a lot of outdoor performances which works especially well for acoustic performances when access to power is not needed. A wet weather venue alternative is highly recommended for all of our outdoor performances to make it possible for us to play for you on the day.
All we require is a chair without arms for each musician out of the direct sunlight, wind and light rain as long as there is sufficient shelter provided and we request a firm and external ground covering for venues with excess sand.
Unfortunately we can not play in the rain and snow and if the forecast minimum is 8 degrees celcius or lower it is up to the musician’s discretion whether they can play on the day for the protection of their instruments. This is the same for temperatures 35 degree celcius and above.
Beach performances are an option, though please check with us that your location will work and what requirements we will need before you make a booking.
The larger the ensemble, the more space we will need. For quartets, we need a space of 2.5m x 2.5m. Trios need 2m x 2m and duos need 1.5m x 1.5m. A soloist will need approximately 1.5m x 1m.
Special arrangements of music not in our current repertoire are possible need at least 14 days notice. We will do our best to complete special arrangements with less than 14 days notice, though unfortunately can not guarantee there will be enough time to include it.

For general background music, we play a selection from our repertoire of upbeat classical, jazz and pop music to suit the style of ambience for your event. You can always choose a style preference or theme we can follow too if that makes it easier.
Some clients like to choose every song we play, which we can certainly do and recommend 10-15 pieces for each hour of playing. However, the most popular option is for us to put together a general mix and read our audience like a DJ would.
